Alitalia: apostolic journey by the Holy Father in Mexico and Cuba Rome, Italy – The B-777 airplane departed this morning from Fiumicino

(WAPA) – It’s Alitalia to accompany the Holy Father Benedetto XVI into the apostolic journey in Mexico and into the Cuba Republic until March 29. Roberto Colaninno, airline’s President, has greeted him before the flight departure.

The connection, served by a B-777 airplane named “Sestriere”, took off from Rome-Fiumicino at 9:30am. The arrival at Guanajuato’s airport in Mexico is predicted at 4:30pm. The travel will continue on March 26 from Guanajuato to Santiago de Cuba.

The airline will accompany the Holy Father also for return in Italy next March 29. The departure from Havana is expected at 5:00pm and the arrival in Rome-Ciampino at 10:15am.

The papal delegation and journalists are present onboard. The crew is composed by three pilots and nine flight assistants, chosen for their professionalism and effort during their career; in addition also an operating team dedicated to the special flights by airline is present.

The collaboration, also with this travel, continues between the Holy See and Alitalia that in the last years has accompanied the Pope in Africa (Cameroon, Angola and Benin), Holy Land, Prague, Malta, Lisbon, Cyprus, UK (Edinburgh and London), Santiago de Compostela, Zagreb, Madrid and Berlin.
