HURTIGRUTEN - ROUTE MAP

This cruise up the Norwegian Coast is one of the most beautiful trips I have ever taken. The cruise starts in the picturesque little town of Bergen. Imagine wooden houses in all colours of the rainbow scattered around the blue water of a deep fiord. That is Bergen. But it gets better as the cruise starts and moves up the coast, going into gorgeous fiords like the Geiranger fiord where steep cliffs rise to both sides Click to continue »

Galapagos Cruise – Untouched Wildlife Encounters

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

If you have not been to Galapagos you should hurry to make it there. Who knows how long it will still be preserved in the state it is in now. Take a cruise between the islands and emerge into a past where animals were not afraid of humans. It is truly amazing. You step off your cruise ship and all of a sudden you are in a whole different world. Click to continue »

Moscow – St. Petersburg River cruise

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

If you ever wanted to see Russia on your next holiday in Europe, one great way to really see the country is a river cruise. I took a cruise once from Moscow over the Volga river all the way to St. Petersburg, the former Leningrad. Moscow in itself is worth a visit, with the Red Square and the Basilika and all the beautiful monasteries and museums. Then you board a cruise ship and go along the Volga canal and on the Volga river. You pass sleepy villages, see Russia the way it really is, with friendly people, laid back and so traditional still. You pass huge lakes that seem like oceans like Lake Ladoga, and after a few days you reach St. Petersburg. On the cruise package deals you usually stay in each city for a day or two to see the sights. Don’t miss the Hermitage – spend at least a few hours or a day to see just a little part of it. In the Peter-and-Paul cathedral you will see tombs of old tsars and feel the history of Katharina the Great and all the great tsars that formed Russian history.
A cruise is just such a  great way to see a different part of Russia and get an indepth feeling for this interesting country.
